Post Literacy and Continuing Education for Human Development (PLCEHD-2)

Objective
Poverty alleviation and livelihood development through human resource development by providing post literacy and continuing education for human development in Bangladesh

Activities

       E. Life-skills and Lifelong Learning

       Objective
       The objective of this intervention is to sensitize teachers and students as well as guardians on Gender, Violence and Adolescence issues so that they can play an important role in the life of adolescents to develop adolescent friendly school premises and institutionalize extra curriculum activities in schools to explore latent talents of adolescent girls and boys.

Primary Health Care and Nutrition

       A.        Primary Health Care Support and Nutrition

       Objective
       The objective of this intervention is to provide primary health care support in program coverage area with a view to providing healthcare services to the marginalized people who don't have any access to the govt. healthcare services.

       Activities
       Health premium collection, Conduct awareness raising campaign, Professional doctor's recruitment, sanitary latrine distribution Treatment and medicine distribution, Health camp, BCC Material develop , Nutrition awareness to the community, and Volunteers develop

       B.        Follow-up of Community Based HIV/AIDS Education Programme among drug user.
       Objective
       The objective of this intervention is to protect the drug abuser along with general mass by educating and awareness rising about HIV/AIDS considering the severity of the problem.

       Activities
       Base line survey, Identify the drug users, Guardian meeting, Community meeting, Detoxification, DUs/IDUs meeting, Needle exchange, Satellite clinic established, medicine distribution and different type of awareness campaigning, skill training and linkages with income generation activities.(IGA)

Gender violence and adolescent issue

       A.        Mainstreaming of Adolescents Family Life Education (AFLE) at Schools combat Violence against Girls (VAG) Education

       Objective
       The objective of this intervention is to raise the awareness and to reduce the dropout rate, in particular, girl's dropout at the secondary level and to negotiate conflicts among young adults to face the challenges as well as the barriers against their development by providing necessary support.

       Activities
       School selection, Conduct teachers refreshers training, Conduct SMC meeting, Conduct PTA meeting, Emergency sanitation support distribution, Forum formation, Conduct forum meeting, awareness campaign trafficking , early marriage, dowry, Establishing complain box, Conduct issue based discussion etc


       B.        Disability in Development
       Objective
       The objective of this intervention is to improve the standard of life in developing the process of financial empowerment of disable ensuring the accessibility in the mainstream of the society.

       Activities
       Profile develops of disable person, PRT, Materials distribution, Awareness session, Referral to other organization, Financial Support, counseling group formation, livelihood development activities also.


Good Governance

       Strengthening Women Rights and Representation in Local Government
       Eighteen Upazila based Union Parishad Women Members Forum was formed and operational in different Upazila of Bagerhat and Khulna in 2008 under the SWRRLG program. Though the project activities have been over in December 2008 Ashroy Foundation has continued its effort to sustain the initiative. There was 18 meeting of the Forum was held in 2009 i.e. nine meeting in each of the districts. It provided an opportunity to interact among the forum members, follow-up previous plans and to prepare action plan involving the women and adolescent at the grassroots level and mainstreaming gender that contributed in strengthening good governance.




Advocacy and Networking

       Advocacy
       Ashroy Foundation is actively contributing in policy and practice change towards achieving the international development goals like Millennium Development Goals (MDG),Hogo Framework for action HFA and Education For All (EFA). It also actively engaged in advocacy initiative to realize the rights of different marginalized groups under different national and international commitments and treaties like compulsory primary education act, Universal Declaration of Human Rights, CEDAW, Salamanka Statement, CRC, Hyogo Framework for Action (HFA) and so on. Ashroy Foundation is also concern about the basic & human rights people especially women live in the slum, brothel and the people affected by disaster like cyclone and flood.
